Hempnall 0 Docking Devils 2 - 29/11/08

After a very long journey of 50 miles we finally arrived at Hempnall, weather better than last week but the pitch a little heavy and sticky. Today's first half captain was Vic and second half captain was Evie.

Hempnall kicked off and forced an early corner.Learning from our mistakes in previous games we acted decisively and cleared our lines straight away.Vic was doing a great job in the centre of midfield and picked out a couple of long through balls to Chloe early on.The story of the first half was constant Docking pressure, corner after corner and save after save from their keeper.Georgie was rarely called into action because Megan and Evie were mopping up all the attacks before they threatened our goal.Rhi and Emily were linking up well in midfield and with Ali away today they both staked a solid claim on being in the starting line up.

Our breakthrough came midway through the first half, when Chloe was brought down on the edge of the box.Once again Evie the deadball specialist stepped up and fired an accurate ball towards goal,a defender attempted a block but only managed to deflect it past her keeper and into the back of the net.Several half chances fell to Chloe on her weaker left side and Emily and Rhi came within a whisker of opening their accounts narrowly missing out when their attempts rebounded off the crossbar.

1 .0 At half time and although we enjoyed most of the possession and 90% of attempts on goal in the first half,we always felt we needed an early goal or two to put the game beyond a battling Hempnall team.Carrie was relieved of her defensive duties and was told to make runs down the flank and swing some crosses in.Emily was given the unfamiliar role of centre midfield and Vic and Rhi shared right mid with good effect.Hempnall swopped keepers in the second half and she was soon under fire from Carrie ,Chloe and Rhi all forcing some excellent saves from her.

Our second goal came from a long ball from Evie upto Chloe10 metres inside their half.Chloe picked out Carrie's run with a great ball to run onto,Carrie was free and cooly tucked the ball into the Hempnall goal in a one v one with the keeper. This gave us a bit of breathing space, but the opposition still managed to give the girls a game right upto the final whistle.Again well done to both teams for good play on a difficult pitch.

Docking Devils 1 North Walsham Angels 2 - 22/11/08

Rough weather conditions were the order of the day, bitterly cold, snow, sleet, hail and wind !!!

Georgie was our first half captain and it was brilliant to hear her shouting instructions to her defence.Keep it up every game please Georgie!

With kick off a little late due to Iain and Kevin trying to put up a gazebo shelter for the parents and subs, and failing due to the blustery conditions, the Angels coach was getting flustered because the ref hadn't turned up.Iain took the whistle and left the coaching to Lesley. With a bare minimum of seven players today we were always going to be up against it with a full strength high flying Walsham team in a determined mood [no doubt fired up by the coach].The Angels won the toss and took the wind advantage in the first half.It was hard work for the Devils to break through today, with a couple of key players missing but they battled extremely hard against all the odds and almost took the lead through a great clearance from Vic helped on by Rhi and blasted inches wide from Chloe.

Walsham did finally break the deadlock, which only inspired the Devils into action.Deservedly we leveled the match with five minutes to half time.A well directed goal kick from Evie found Ali in space,a clever dummy, and Ali was free to run at the Angels defence, and with two defenders converging on her she unloaded a great ball for Chloe to run on to.Chloe struck the ball with some venom, which the keeper could only parry, and first to the rebound was Chloe to smash the ball over the line and into the net.

The weather was getting progressively worse and a couple of our players were really struggling.

A quick turn around at half time and all to play for. This is a game that could go either way,Huge credit goes to both teams for battling on in adverse weather conditions.Walsham scrambled the winner just before the weather finally beat us.Finishing 10 minutes early but I think everyone was happy to get inside and warm up.

Taverham Cubs 0 Docking Devils 4 - 15/11/08

We finally arrived at the field after a little detour, but the girls were buzzing today and were really looking forward to today's challenge. With a full squad today the girls are beginning to understand that competition for places is keen and poor performances could mean losing your starting place in the team. The armband went to Alison for the first half, and she lead the team well with a very cool performance, always composed on the ball and always looking for a team mate to pass to.

We pressed hard and must have forced half a dozen corners in the first 10 minutes. The cubs keeper was awesome, totally fearless and saved absolutely everything we chucked at her!

At the break we made a couple more subs to freshen things up,and it wasn't long before we forced a free kick just outside their box, with Ali being pushed of the ball.Up steps our cool dead ball specialist Evie and majestically sidefoots the ball into the top right of the Cubs net.Now with the keeper finally beaten, could we go on to capitalize this advantage?

Answer an emphatic YES! Neat interplay between Ali and Emily put Chloe in on goal, not on her favoured side but a quickly taken shot with her left foot caught the keeper off balance and the ball slotted into the corner of the goal. The Cubs defended bravely, but the Devils had a firm grip on the game which they were not going to let go of.

Georgie,Megan and Evie were rarely called into action in the last 20 minutes with Vic leading the charge from the midfield.Their defence were getting tired and Chloe rounded off a fine hattrick with a 15 metre power drive that sent the away fans home with happy.

The "Bundle"celebrations at the end of the game reflected the team spirit today, and were in no way intended to belittle the Cubs brave display .Well done to both teams for playing a very entertaining game of football.

Docking Devils 0 Norwich City Canaries 5 - 08/11/08

Carrie took the captain's armband for the first half and did a great job,it was good for the team to hear Carrie shouting out instructions,an intelligent player but often a little quiet on the football pitch. It was one of those days when things were just not happening for us but not to take anything away from the Canaries, everything was falling nicely for them.

Their big striker tested out Georgie with a couple of long range efforts and with the wind behind her shots Georgie did well to parry and deflect her efforts away.Eventually they broke through our defences and and were 2 . 0 up after 15 minutes. We had a reasonable spell straight after that with Chloe and Ali coming close but were denied by good keeping from the Canaries goaly. We were looking confident and dangerous just before the break, when their striker forced a couple of quick corners and unbelievably scored from both with a couple of freaky deflections.

Half time and at 4.0 down we were certainly facing an uphill battle. We gave Chloe the armband for the second half with instructions to the girls to play with more "fire in the belly" and to start fresh at 0 .0 and go out and try and win the second half. The girls upped the tempo and started to push back the strong Norwich midfield further and further into their own half.

Their keeper was having a blinder and stopped everything we could throw at her.Almost on the final whistle they broke quickly from a long throw and convered cooly to finish the game 5 .0 victors.

COSTESSEY 3 DOCKING DEVILS 2 - 01/11/08

With the girls at full strength today we were expecting a good result, but having skipped a vital training session in midweek we looked out of sorts in the first ten minutes.

Priority was given to those girls who made training last Thursday. Costessey took the lead against the run of play and looked a little surprised to be given such an easy and soft goal, but in a positive way it inspired the girls into action with Rhi as today's captain leading the team forward.

Within five minutes the girls were back on level terms, starting with a well directed goal kick from Evie finding Rhi on the half way line who in turn found Ali on the edge of the box, she cleverly changed direction and coolly slotted the ball into the bottom right of the net.

Half time saw some changes, with Megan and Sarah coming on for Evie and Emily at the back and Vic for Rhi in midfield.

Megan took the armband and everything was going well until a loose ball in our box was claimed by Georgie, who then had it kicked out of her hands and into the goal . Then things got worse when, within two minutes, we were 3 . 1 down after conceding another soft goal. Costessey were playing some good football now but the girls held solid and started to push forward with great purpose.

With Evie back on the pitch in midfield and Carrie working hard along side her we broke out of defence and a lovely through ball put Chloe in on goal, and a late tackle just outside the box brought Chloe down, giving the Devils a free kick. Chloe limped off in pain and Ali took her position up front. Evie lined up her free kick and with great power and precision slammed the ball into the top right of the Costessey net.

We battled hard and came close a couple of times but eventually time just beat us. A draw would probably have been a fairer result, but a win is what we are capable of...

Today's team : GEORGIE , EVIE ,MEGAN ,EMILY , SARAH , RHI ,VIC ,ALI , CARRIE AND CHLOE .

CROMER GIRLS 1 v DOCKING DEVILS 7 - 04/10/08

Today we had only sixplayers, which I felt wouldn’t be a problem for this game judging by recent results. With the players we had I went for the a formation of 1-3-1.

The girls had great togetherness and work rate today, and we were rewarded after 5 mins with a great ball from Ali and a excellent finish from Chloe, we put constant pressure on the opposition, and from a goal kick, the ball feel to Chloe and she took a couple of steps forward and finished from about 20 yards. We kept the ball moving well between each other and were unlucky on several occasions not to increase our lead. Then after 20 mins Chloe and Vic exchange passes, and Chloe was in on goal and finished well, Just before half time we gave away a free kick on the edge of the area, from which Cromer scored.

Half Time 3-1

As soon as the second half start we were putting pressure on Cromer, with good efforts from Vic, Ali, and Chloe, then after about 5 mins Chloe received the ball direct from a goal kick, and finished superbly, then another goal kick went to Ali who dribbled around the defender and finished neatly.

Although we had a lot of pressure Cromer did manage a shot on goal, which was brilliantly saved by Georgie, then the ball broke to Rhi who played into Ali and played onto Chloe who finished neatly. Shortly afterwards Cromer's goalkeeper made a couple of good saves, including from a long range effort from Vic. Cromer also had a couple of other efforts, but with about 5 mins to go Rhi received the ball from Georgie and dribbled past 2 defenders and shot just wide, then Ali and Chloe hit the post. With the final whistle nearing, we had a corner which Vic drove into the area and Chloe finished from about 2 yards

Full Time 7-1

Scorers - Chloe 6, Ali 1

Well-done today to the whole team, for your efforts and hard work, and well deserved victory.

Team: Georgie, Megan, Ali, Rhi, Vic, Chloe

DOCKING DEVILS 0 v TAVERHAM TIGERS 4 - 27/09/08

Today we only had seven girls, as Caroline was unable to make it so we started with a 2-3-1 formation as Taverham are a good team, and we haven’t beaten them yet.

The girls started very slowly and took time to get into any sort of rhythm, and before we had any effort on goal we were 1-0 down after only 5 mins, I think that was the best thing that could have happen because we started to play the ball around and make space for one another, and work together.

After 10mins Taverham attacked and Georgie made an excellent save, and then after 13 mins Taverham scored there second, which was against the run of play and very undeserved. We continued to put pressure on the opposition with no end product, we had 3 really good efforts, 1 being a shot from Ally resulting a excellent save from there goalkeeper, then Chloe had a shot blocked on the line, the half time whistle went and I thought how can we 2-0 down with all that pressure.

The second half started the way the first finish with Docking having a lot of the ball and constant pressure with unfortunately nothing to show from it, them towards the end of the game Taverham scored two more goals to make it 4-0

During the game some of the girls were subject to bad language from the opposition, which I find disgusting, and I feel the girls would be best to ignored that and just get on with there football, and I also felt this effected them during the game.

Thank you to all the girls for your efforts today we should have got something from that game, and also to all the parents who turned up thank you for your support, and hopefully we can get a home win in the near future.

Team: Georgie, Evie, Megan, Ali, Rhi, Vic, Chloe
